Transneft Nadzor LLC has implemented SurfSecure, a Russian solution for safe work on the Internet. Transneft Nadzor LLC is a part of the Transneft PJSC group of companies, which ranks 13th in the RBC revenue rating for 2017.

Transneft Nadzor LLC controls construction and installation works at the facilities of Transneft PJSC: main pipelines, pumping stations, reservoir tanks and others; carries out technical supervision of technological processes of production and shipment, storage of raw materials and materials; control the implementation of field engineering and geological surveys, check the quality of the implementation of laboratory studies of soils and groundwater.

The company consists of the head office located in Moscow and 15 geographically-distributed subdivisions dispersed throughout the territory of the Russian Federation: St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Tyumen, Khabarovsk and a number of other cities. The customer has a multi-level and distributed IT infrastructure, and the Internet plays an important role in ensuring the work of the company - every day more than 700 employees access the network.

The IT department was looking for a comprehensive solution to provide users with secure access to resources on the Internet, which would control:
• access to malicious sites,
• scan files for viruses, trojans, malicious code,
• block download unwanted files from the Internet,
• control of access of employees to undesirable sites, messengers and social networks Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, My World, Facebook, etc., with the possibility of categorization.

The customer paid special attention to the possibility of maintaining stable access to websites for more than 1,200 employees who are simultaneously on the network.

Earlier Transneft Nadzor LLC used MS Forefront TMG, which could not fully fulfill the client’s tasks. Support and maintenance of MS Forefront TMG required large resources. In particular, constant adjustments to the configuration settings and the external environment were required; there was no integration into the SIEM systems. And the end of the technical support cycle for the main modules of MS Forefront TMG has caused an urgent need for migration to third-party solutions.

Product selection was carried out at the level of the head company Transneft PJSC. An authorized partner responsible for conducting the pilot project and preparing the technical and commercial proposal was staffed by staff certified by SurfSecure.

As a result of closed testing, SurfSecure solution was chosen as the corporate standard for use in all company structures.

During the piloting phase, a cluster implementation was applied with built-in load balancing. This approach allows to achieve increased fault tolerance of the solution and “smart” load balancing among all nodes of the cluster. Both the current load of each node and the configuration features of the used hardware resources are taken into account.

SurfSecure solution was successfully implemented and used by the customer. It allowed us to provide controlled and stable access to the Internet for all employees of Transneft Nadzor LLC and ensure the protection of the corporate network from external threats.

The work of SurfSecure does not affect the speed of access to the Internet for all company employees. In normal operation, when nothing threatens the user and is located on trusted resources on the Internet, the user may not even know that, thanks to the SurfSecure solution, he receives only “pure” traffic. In the event of threats or when attempting to access compromised resources or resources prohibited by the company's policies, the user will receive a detailed notification with information about blocking the resource.

In addition to solving the priority task, the customer is guaranteed to receive technical support for SurfSecure in Russian, including the possibility of free use of new versions with new functionality at all stages of the technical support contract.
